For a long time, open defecation had been a pressing concern in Community Primary School, Ogada Atta, Ikeduru Local Government of Imo State, Nigeria. This practice was not only harmful to the environment but also posed a significant risk to the health and well-being of the students and staff.

Identifying this crisis, Her Grace and Great Eminence, Princess Onyinye Gift Uwaechia MON, made it her mission to remedy this situation and to enhance the living conditions within the community. Her focus was clear - to bring about a change and improve the sanitation standards of the school and its immediate environs.
On May 5, 2023, in an effort to fulfill this mission and to align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN-SDG) on improved health, Princess Onyinye inaugurated a significant sanitation project. The initiative involved the construction and commissioning of four modern toilet facilities housed within a well-constructed, comfortable building.

This project was a watershed moment for the community, marking a new era of improved hygiene and sanitation practices. It served to eliminate the deeply ingrained practice of open defecation that had been plaguing the school for years.
With its completion, the staff and students of Community Primary School, Ogada Atta, now have access to clean and hygienic toilet facilities. This development has contributed to the general well-being of the school community, promoting healthier habits and ultimately leading to better health outcomes.

Today, the effect of Princess Onyinye's intervention resonates deeply within the community. The once prevalent practice of open defecation is now a thing of the past. In its place is a growing awareness and practice of better sanitation habits - a testament to the transformative impact of Princess Onyinye's philanthropic endeavours.
